not ready to go all the way but would like to get my forks set up for my wieght. Anyone have any suggestions for new spring size, oil amount and weight. I dont plan on doing much high jumping, just want to tune it up a bit for a 175 to 185 pound rider. thanks

really depends on what terrain you're on. I'm 180 without gear but ride in some real rocky stuff where I want the wheel moving up and down a lot. When I had my KDX forks on, I was pretty happy with .38 springs. If you ride more normal terrain and do any MX jumping, you'll want them stiffer, like .40 minimum, maybe quite a bit stiffer.

Re: 'dont plan on doing much high jumping...'

That queers the whole thing.

As soon as you start mixing disparate expectations and trying to make a bike 'fit' those expectations you will wind up with a bike that does nothing well.

.38s would be a reasonable choice for riding what the KDX is made for.

.42/.44 for the other end of your spectrum.

The .38s will bottom (and you will break something) on the 'jump' end of things, the .44s will beat the pee-wah out of you on the 'trail' end.

Oil level? 100mm to jump, 115/120mm to ride.

ANY choice is better'n the little things that are in there (considering them to be OEM).
