chest protection
What do you all think about the O'NEAL 2006 HAMMER CHEST ? (70$)
I also like the SIXSIXONE DEFENDER CHEST. (81$)
I ride mostly on tight trails with lots of trees (most of'em are in my way... )
Is this worth it or should I wait to get a nice green fox airframe?
Any opinion apreciated
THANKS

I have the FOX airframe. It is ok I guess and it fits good. Out of all the crashes I have had, it seems the chest protector front and back never touch the ground. The only gripe I have about it is that the shoulder pad/cups and arm deflectors are basically useless. It seems that when I crash, I wind up grinding my shoulder into the ground. I don't use any part of the protector when I crash and wished that it had better shoulder protection.
Maybe that's why it is a chest protector and not a shoulder protector.
I kind of wish a company would come out with something that protected shoulders as well, even the 661 flight suit and pressure suit seem to only cover the chest/back areas.

From what I've seen...they all are about the same. There are so many choices now, but they all offer about the same protection. The biggest difference is the way they fit. Unfortunatley, if you plan to mail order...it's a hit or miss thing, unless you can try one on somewhere.
I have an old Fox airframe and it's taken some good hits. I'm currently evaluating the Thor Force. It moves air better...but honestly it's not any better protection or comfort wise for the price. Fly has a nice protector out that I may try next. Like I said...from what I've seen...they all offer similiar protection. I'm looking for the best comfort. So far, I haven't been impressed by any of them. Maybe if I wasn't an old, short, out of shape, fat guy...

I missed the point at the top about the boat protector part....
It doesn't look to have a whole lotta shoulder protection neither...

Mr. Wibbens was on the shoulder of the road..and about got kilt by a flying wheel/tire what broke off an overloaded 5th wheel.
Oh well...he'd already got hit by it once..that's why he was stopped! (protected..on the shoulder...)
unnerstain? ...are NOT!
