Price on a 89 KX kick starter
Are these cheaper than the FRP piece from a dealer?

That would depend on how much you find an '89 kicker for.
Any used kicker is likely not a real good idea..it may well already be worn out.
RonAyers only goes back to '93..and it's sold as an assembly (with knuckle), but it's $78 before it's shipped.
BTW...putting any kicker on a used knuckle is likely not a good idea. Both the kicker and knuckle wear. Buying either one and using it with the worn other is not often going to get you acceptable results.
The FRP kicker works well. He had some problems with some of the early ones (breaking), but they work good now!!
Have fun putting it on with new o-rings!!
Take a look at Bailey28's for another approach........
