Hi Guys
new to forum and already read some interesting stuff. i recently bought a kdx250 93. only mods are a oil mixer and smaller tank to fit and extra tooth front sproket for a bit more top end.
idles great has a slight tapping sound from engine when idling cold though go's away on running temp. not to sure reason why? any maintenance tips (or warnings) for this model? seems to go quite hard. quicker than expected.
look forward to helping rather than asking when i learn some more.
cheers
ryan

Welcome ra88it!
Don't know much about the model myself 'cept I'd like to have one.
The ticking may be the KIPS, most refer to it as more of a rattle though.
Some general tips are, inspect and grease all the bearings from stem to stern. Ma Kaw is greedy with the stuff....
Secondy, if the airbox is unmodified, you may benefit with removing the snorkel and or drilling some holes in the lid. This will help let it breathe better.
What size carb is on your beast?

Welcome! I'll see if I can dig up the list of mods that work for the KDX 250's but the only one that comes to mind at the moment is switching to a KX 250 head gasket to up the compression a bit. 88 I believe.
