After reading about it on this list I removed 2 shims from each fork and set the oil level at 100 mm. This is on a 05 KDX220. I already had resprung it for my weight. I am 250 + lbs. I used 5 wt oil.
I test rode it on Mountain single track and high speed desert (pinned in 6th gear with stock sprockets) through the sage. Night and day difference for the better. Awesome. I set the compression clickers dead center at 11 clicks out from full hard.
I believe I could set the oil at stock 85 - 87 mm and still have a nice ride but i am not messing with it.
Thank you for mentioning this mod. I no longer get beat up in the fast or slow square edges, roots or rocks.
Front fork valves - freebie fix is great

Good deal! Having your suspension with you instead of against you is really something to experience.

I remember doing WOT 6th gear in the desert thru the sage awhile back.
I keep my busted up Bell Moto on the counter at work to remind me to not ever do that again.
..which wasn't as bad as my busted up Shoei resulting from a head-on with a deer on my RD...
