I rode with the 42 pilot today. The idle drops low a lot quicker then with the 40 pilot. Still lots of bog in 1st after trailing along at idle when I stab it to quarter throttle, and also happens when I go to full throttle but cleans up past 1/2 throttle. I raised the needle even higher to the 4th clip. Still bogs. Definitely sounded rich to me on the pilot. I looked back while it was bogging and it was smoking a bunch out of the exhaust. I am beginning to feel defeated. Friend is going to lend me his temp gun. 😑 I’m thinking maybe the pilot jet 40 and 42 are hindering the transition to half throttle. Maybe I should try a 38. All I know is when taking the carb off to change the clip position I had to keep my hand away from touching the reed block on the cylinder because it was really hot.
