Backed to pissed-off - damn Mobil 1

First they take away the MX2T and rename it somethig else that I can't find anywhere and now I go and look for the red cap Mobil sythetic 15/50 and can't find it anywhere. Crips now the damn company went and relabeled all their old stuff into names like extended life, 5000 mile motor oil, etc...

I'm fed up. Switched to Amsoil Interceptor for the mix oil and it is working great. Anyone use just a plain old 10/40 or some other regular dino oil. All I need is the label to not say energy conserving on the back label correct? How about Castrol 20/50 dino - I have lots of that laying around.

I use Castrol 10-40 in mine. no friction reducers. seems to work fine.

The best thing you can do is proly run cheap oil and change it alot. That's what I am going to start doing. The Mobil 1 stuff is hard to find and costs alot. Castrol sounds good and is readily available.....

Check your online sites, Dennis Kirk etc. many of them have Mobil products.

Mobil 1 gold cap 15-50 is the same as the old red cap. I use it.

I use Valvoline 10-30. I've used it in two stroke bikes for over thirty years.

Well, I DO change it more often than that.........

I do presume that referencing 'mix oil' and 'plain old' in the same paragraph is indeed NOT using one as the antecedent to the other...that you ARE speaking of different applications?

But...I did use Quaker State 30W as injector oil (mix) in my first R5 (Yamaha 350cc twin)..and my first rebuild on that bike was @ 47,000 miles.

Yeah yeah ....

I was referring to two different applications. So pissed I couldn't type straight I guess.

I undertand the need to reinvert onself and the reason why companies do what they do but this is the umpteenth time that Mobil has done this. Damn marketers.

Making the switch to the cheap dino 10-30 or 10-40 and changing it every other ride.

Ditto Mark! (for you younger folks... you will never know the pleasures of smelling ditto's fresh off the presses! )

Amsoil for premix at 50:1 and cheap dino for the clutches and changed often.

Mobil has hurt their "informed" users by making it a dummy decision.

Mobil's loss I figure.

For those that still use MX2T, just picked up a case from here. Good price and fast shipping.

I order my MX2T from the place that sv650 mentioned. I would recommend them as well, as long as you don't mind buying by the case. Good luck.

Has anyone ever run Rotella T 15W-40 in their KDX tranny? (The dino rather than Synthetic version).

I just read something on that.... it is very high detergent oil.

I'am running Rotella 15-40 in the KDX and KTM trannys. I switched from the red cap Mobile I due to price, availabilty, and the fact that some of the auto-clutch makers want you to use either Rotella or Delco after serious testing of their clutches.

I would also back-up CC with the Valvoline oil. I used it for many years without any troubles associated with oil. Both the 10-30 in 2 cycle trannys and the 20-50 in 4 cycle motorcycles.

Oh well, gotta add my 2c in yet another oil thread. I run Motul Transoil 2-stroke gearbox oil....Imagine that....That's how it's labeled.
