WER Damper

Well, just got a used one, Rebuilt that was used 3 times-since the rebuild. I got all the brackets & Damper for $120. Pretty good ehhhh

The Enduro/HS organization I belong to has a Member Board like the others. I lucked out and saw it FOR SALE and was the 1st to inquire about it. Timing is everything. It came off a 98 KDX. I called WER and asked if the brackets would still work, due to the KX Front Conversion and they saif it should mount fine.

Being the ungrateful unappreciative slothful slob that I am, mine was a GIFT, even!! Much appreciated, too.
My first choice was a WER..mainly due to its mounting position. I have since learned that all dampers are not created equal.
Well...I never really thought they were, but figured that as spendy as even the WER is (mine was brandy new) that it had to be up to snuff.
That was an error in my thinking.
If it suits you it tickles me, though!

Well, CRAP!!
I totally missed the WER part.
Old age I guess.
It'll do for the stock KDX forks just fine. But once you upgrade to the KX forks and loose the flex of the stock forks, you will be ready to trade up to the Scotts or GPR.
At least that was my experiance with WER/Scotts/Stock forks/KX forks.

OK.... That's it! It's a left/right coast thing.
IMO notwithstanding....most any damper is better than no damper.
My Cindy has a Denton on her Warrior (quad). It's a simple tubular type. She says it works great! Cost more than you paid for the WER...but certainly nothing close to a Scotts.
WERs almost all damp differently left and right. Even after 'factory' rebuilds they do that.
A WER for $120 with brackets is a good deal!! You will like it, I'm sure.
Ride a Scotts bike and you will very soon know the difference.
There are no multiple circuits..there is one..and it cannot be adjusted to much in the way of damping. I run 15-20W oil in mine just to get it to DO something.
Yeah...WER says if you can feel it, it's too tight.

Besides..the proof of the pudding is in the eating..and the proof of the WER is in the riding. Well, and the bouncing.

I was involved in a scientific test that was done over the last couple years: Same rider, same bike. Without a damper, 2 broken ribs. With a damper, no broken ribs.
The test subject stated that he preferred no broken ribs in all riding situations.
The same subject also claimed that riding 5 miles back to the truck over rough terrain at times including four foot rock drop offs was more enjoyable without broken ribs.
Loading the bike into the back of a 4x4 was also found to be more challenging with broken ribs , since much energy was expended to control the emission of girly noises that might tip off the riding partners present that the "invincible" subject had indeed seriously injured his stupid self.
At the conclusion of this exhaustive study, it was determined that broken ribs = bad
, and no broken ribs = good .
Therefore, Steering damper = good (of whatever type)

Mike-Do you find the ribs are more prone to getting sore again after a very minor hit. Thats what my Scientific Test determined for meeeeee.

Service for the WER is easy for me. I drive 35 minutes and I'm there. CC-What did they charge you for a re-build???

I haven't noticed them being more tender. But they broke in my back. Maybe that makes a difference.
