Crankshaft Runout Acceptable??

Post by Ecarta »

Hello All!
Finally removed my crankshaft. Measured runout per Service Manual. All is to spec, EXCEPT the end of shaft on stator side.
Spec states that you can have no more than .08mm difference between any two readings.

Well as you can see in my pics I am .21mm difference.

But even closer to middle on the same side its about perfect its out only like .02mm maybe.

What are your thoughts? Suggestions? Implications? Not sure if it was like this before or messed things up as I tried to remove it.

Thanks for your input!

I am thinking that stand is not going to be exact enough for checking to that level.

Set that crank assembly between centers and see what kind of runout you get. Even without a lathe or purpose built test centers, this is quite easy to do.

Measure where the bearings press on, so you have a nice perpendicular surface.
