Hey Slick_Nick...

Post by SS109 »

I've been researching possibly building my own SR Stator type setup for my 220. While doing all that I keep ending up on the various stator suppliers out there and I noticed something really funny. For years all you ever saw was stock replacement type lighting coils for the KDX, with their anemic 30-35 watt output, and then you happened. After you did all the work getting a high output lighting coil figured out for the KDX all those same suppliers now offer high output lighting coils. I believe you are directly responsible for that change in the market. I just wanted to say thank you as now those coils are available to those that don't have the time or inclination to try winding one themselves.

Also, I want to say publicly... You da' man, Nick! :supz:

Just FYI, the high output lighting coil sold by Ricky Stator has thicker laminations than the stock coil. So, in their case, their coil is more than just a different amount of winding turns.

Hey, thanks man I really appreciate it! I’ve made a few design tweaks over the years, trialing different wire gauges and wraps, I still think I got it pretty close on the first time around!

My latest foray into the world of the ignition coil was a fun, albeit frustrating one some days!

Much thanks for the kind words!

Yes, he is. His stator rewiring tutorial was a true game changer for a lot of KDX owners and most don't even know it! It made it where, finally, KDX'ers could get some real lighting on their bikes for dualsport and/or night riding. He did such a great job that all the stator suppliers, basically, copied his hard work.

BTW, Nick, you're welcome!

Thanks guys you’re really too kind! I’ve got a couple other bike builds that I’d like to post up, but haven’t been able to get around to writing them out yet!

Been stuck in a training course for work for the last two months. Also why my trip south with the bikes got postponed.

Ah, I was wondering what happened. Oh well. Getting paid is pretty important.
