Overly rich jetting

Post by Isgc »

Lately I have been trying to get my 93 jetted correctly but it runs quite rich no matter what changes I make. I have tried the stock jetting to no avail. I have also dropped the pilot to a 42 with still nothing. Tried different main jets too. No matter when jets I put in this thing, it still runs rich and smokes like crazy. Float height is set properly, and I do not burn trans oil. Engine is solid. Is it possible that my problem could be a worn out jet block gasket? I read somewhere else that a worn jet block gasket can cause a rich condition. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

I would replace the jet block gasket.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Did you soak the carb to clean it? If so, there's your answer.

The block gasket would indeed cause my problem then?

Yes, jet block gasket will cause this problem. Also, what did you set your float height at, factory 16mm? If so, change it to 18mm as that can also contribute to a rich running condition.

There are much many threads on here and elsewhere with old, worn out jet block gaskets or "carb dip" damage.
