Jetting Adjustments

Post by Red_Rooster »

I have a quick question to confirm jetting. I currently live in Phoenix, and run standard needle, 2nd from top, 45 pilot, and 152 main with lid removed pc pipe, and FMF S/A on my 97 200. The bike runs great for me, plug always looks good. I am racing this weekend in Prescott AZ in a local harescrambles event. Temps should be in the mid 80s, and elevation is 5000 - 6000 feet. Phoenix is 1500 or so.

My calculations show that I should rejet to a 43 pilot, and 146 main. does this sound about right? Are these sizes even available? if not, should I jet richer than leaner than these sizes? Oh, and btw, there is no jetting loop at the race, so I have to try and get it right prior to going up there.

Any advice would be great.

I would think about a 42 pilot (permanently) and adjust the air screw for various elevations, although a 40 should work well at those higher elevations. I don't think I'd go any leaner than a 148 main (to be safe, especially if the morning turns out to be a little cool). You can get pilot sizes 38, 40, 42, 45, 48. You can get mains in sizes 146, 148, 150, 152, 155, 158, 160, 162, 165, 168. Those are just examples of what's available. Ride fast but safe and have a good time.
