I went to go install some bark busters/hand guards on my KDX 200, and lo and behold there was bar-end mounts already in there. Could someone look at the pictures and tell me what they think was on there? Are those bark busters from another company (other than Acerbis clone) or maybe something else? It's smaller than M8 but bigger than M6, so I guess that means it's an M7 threaded hole in there, but M7 is a weird size and my hardware store doesn't have m7 bolts, so I don't know how I can keep using this bar-end thing. If I don't reuse it for my new bark busters, I don't know how I'm going to get it out of the end of the handlebar, because it seems really jammed in there.

Re: What are these bar-end things
Looks the same as the bar ends for my Acerbis bark busters(very old set), they have a 8mm thread.. I don't see too much 7mm hardware with work but you never know where those old mounts came from, maybe try a 5/16 bolt in both fine and course thread. If you have a drill bit set, insert the largest one that will slide down the bore, insert it shank end in, when it stops mark the depth with tape remove and then keep installing the next size down until in goes in more, this will give you a rough idea of the inner thread size of the bolt, use a nut on that bit to give you a approximate bolt size.

M8 bolts can be had in two (1.0 and 1.25) common thread pitches. I would try both before going any further.

Re: What are these bar-end things
I have a really long M8 bolt with what looks like 1.5 mm thread pitch, but when I put that down the hole it just spins around on top of the hole, doesn't even think about going in, so I assumed that bolt was too wide. I got an M6 from the hardware store and that just passes right into the hole and wiggles around so that's why I figured the bolt was M7. Maybe it really is M8 though with a finer thread.

1.5 would be a finer thread to maybe it’s so fine that it’s not even catching the threads?? The difference between 1.0 and 1.5 might cause the issue you’re experiencing. As stated above 1.0 and 1.25 are the most common. You’re sure it’s an m8 right??

Try 8 mm x 1.25 mm. Pretty much every 8 mm bolt on the bike from Kawasaki is 1.25 mm pitch.
BE AWARE!! It could be SAE (inch). My 30 year old Fredette Handsavers are.
