Re: Tubliss - install w/ new tire?
Pulled the trigger. Tubliss (rear only for now, since they are amazon sale) will be here Thu.
Yesterday I ran my tube / worn down Kenda Trackmaster rear at 9 lbs.
Nice difference in grip and forgiveness on the wet rocks & roots from my normal 11 psi and inspired me to go ahead and change tire tire to extra wide Kenda Equlibrium for even more grip and want to see what 6psi or 8 feels like.
Tubliss her I come.

Re: Tubliss - install w/ new tire?
Glad ya pulled the trigger! I'm really happy with my Tubliss setup. A few weeks ago I swapped my used Shinko Fatty and Tubliss over to my KX front wheel, and everything went fine.

Just take your time installing it the first time and follow the directions exactly. It is a little bit of a learning curve but once you got it down it's way easier, and better, than tubes.

Got it done tonight. Seems no leaks. Will recheck pressure and go for spin in the morn.
They could make the instructions a little more clear for me though.
I’d add: Place old tire well out of reach so you don’t accidentally try to remount it.

I couldn’t figure out where all the dirt came from on the bead. I had just pressure washed it.
New one looks better!

That is a 4.5-18. It looked a lot more at home on my XR650. We’ll see how she handles. KDXG likes it fine, so I expect good results. Headed for gnar today.

Man. That's wide! (assuming it is an actual 4.5", seems like they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer)

Re: Tubliss - install w/ new tire?
Looks like an honest 4-1/2”. Traction is pretty amazing.
Since I suck at real pivot turns, I do a lot of tight donuts. About launched myself into the ditch first time tried it with new tire. I ran 6/9 psi (front is still HD tube) pretty slick.

Pic isn’t really good, but caliper shows 4-1/2”.
