Hard to find neutral ???

Post by beeds3000 »

I have a 97 KDX 200, and 95% of the time it is hard to find neutral either you have it kicked all the way down in first and lightly bump it up to find neutral but it always goes into 2nd, or if you are in secound and lightly push it down it goes past neutral to first. I have ridden my buddy's bike like honda 250's and KX 250's and they aren't hard to find neutral in? do other people have this problem ???

Have you adjusted your clutch, and changed your trans oil?

My brothers 88 had exactly the same symptoms. Switching to gear saver (I know many hate this stuff) made the shifting better. After a year or so the clutch needed to be replaced.

As Fuzzy said, " adjust the clutch and change oil first".

Check the clutch cable, it might be stretched.

re: 'that's strange..'

Not to pick...but it's not at all strange. Very common, actually. If yours doesn't do it now...it will in the future.

After an adjustment check and during an oil change...look inside the clutch cover to check the condition of your clutch basket.

A notchy basket makes it hard to 'find' neutral.

Mine too!

Just ask Carvr

It'll go into neutral when you least expect it!
