Hey guys so after rebuilding the top end and buying a second jug and getting a piston I now have a running machine "kinda"
But the carb is in really bad shape tried to clean and refresh it as best I could but floats are messed up constantly sticking and flooding out it's pretty bad can't find any rebuild kits
and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations I'm in the USA Alabama Elevation is 289-500ft
I know RB designs have some really good options but those are out of my price range and decided you guys would know best

What is your budget, roughly?
You can buy a new Mikuni. What is the stock carb, VM32SS? VM34SS? I can't remember if there even is a 32. Look at sudco.com or jetsrus.com. Those floats are used on a lot of Kawasaki bikes. They may be just standard Mikuni parts.

Re: 1984 KDX200 Carb options?
I am not too big on buying a different brand / model of carb than stock unless I am very confident in my jetting ability. Pretty much NO ONE else will have the same setup to be able to give you tips or a possible baseline.
Another issue is the dimensions of the carburetor...
outlet the same diameter?
inlet the same diameter?
are the outlet and inlet in the same places as the original? (the boots will only scoot over so far
is the carb deeper or shorter than the original? again, boots can only move so far to take up slack or excess

Re: 1984 KDX200 Carb options?
yeah that carb won't work anyway I had my neighbor help me pull the carb and brought it inside got some measurements and well that carb I linked will not work it's too short also decided to strip this carb back down once again and take a look so it seems that its a factory 84 carb by Mikuni but the motor side is not 34mm its 38mm and it wasn't the floats in the bowl giving me problems it was the valve to stop the fuel from flowing into the bowl cleaned them up and it seems to be working?? did a test run with water seems fine won't know till I clean the water out and get it back on the bike there is a piece I'm missing tho

Re: 1984 KDX200 Carb options?
If it was leaking, then the float valve is always suspect. The tip can get worn over time. In some instances, the seat (where the rubber presses against) can have gunk built up. Cleaning the rubber tip and / or cleaning the seat area (Q-tip and some Brasso, Simichrome or other) can help.
I am not 100% certain exactly where the 34 mm measurement is taken. I know it is not the OD. It may be the edge of the ID.
Maybe that piece is available from Sudco or jetsrus. If not,

The inside diameter, of the front of the carb (points toward the engine) is the measurement needed.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
