Carb overflowing

Ugh. After having my bike down for three weeks now my carb is pissing itself. Frustrating. Float height is good at 18mm, the floats float, needle is less than a year old, and no crud whatsoever in the carb. I even inspected everything under a magnifying glass to look for crud or wear. Nada. The only thing I can possibly see is the needle seat looks to be a little rough. Possibility there is some varnish or corrosion on the seat from when the bike was down.

Which leads me to this, I'm going to try the polish method to clean it up. For those not familiar, a KDX Rider member a while back posted this as a solution for problems like this. I thought it would be good to remind everyone of this tip since I'm currently going through this problem. Will post back with either success or failure!

I hope that ends up working. I bought a brand new 35 air striker from Jets R Us that I was beginning to think was a lemon. Of course once it has gas run through it there are no returns. I ended up with multiple float heights trying to make it work. I would pull in from a ride and gas was leaking out the overflow as quick as it could. Or I would come out in the morning and find a puddle under the bike. I figured the valve was faulty and ordered a new one...same problem. Polishing the seat with Mothers like on that video fixed it right up. I'm going to make it part of regular maintenance.

Follow up... we have success! Took me about 12 q-tips but the ones I have are of the cheap no name variety and I used Brasso instead of Mothers.

BTW, another great tip mentioned by another member on how to know if you have a leaking jet block gasket. Bookmark it and spread the knowledge!

This worked perfectly for me! Was pissing so much gas away despite several looks at the carb, floats, etc. Did this tip and have not had any overflowing. I have put about 6 hours on the bike since. Awesome tip for the stock KDX carb!

Is the float seat easily removable or did you polish it in-situ?

I did try and remove it but it was too tight. Spent about 10 mins and 15 Q-tips, and a bit of polish. I was super careful to not leave any inside and blew it out before I reinstalled it. So far so good

Yeah, unfortunately, the seat isn't removable on the PWK. I polished in the carb then cleaned out with carb cleaner. I haven't had a problem since.
