Tighter spring for better rear brake feel

Post by newbbewb »

Has anyone ever tried a less stretchy spring for the rear brake? I have played and played with rear brake setup to make it easier to feel and not really getting anywhere.

You might have a problem with a sticking caliper piston. After cleaning mine out and replacing the seals there was a great improvement.

Thanks! Master, caliper and sliders are working great. Fresh fluid, ebc pads and tusk rotor. I've tried the cheapo neutron pads as well.

It's not they don't work great, it's that it's hard to feel the pedal under my boot. It's basically an on/off switch. Different master cylinders are on option? Maybe slow the pedal down a bit?

That is the KDX rear brake. Tiny master cylinder volume, small caliper volume, crappy hoses=no feel. Stainless lines help a little, but that is the trademark KDX brake feel.....none and all

I was thinking bigger bore master but wanted to try spring first. I have one from a kx650r, klx300, and kdx250. pretty sure they all bolt up and need to pull apart and measure bore sizes I'm thinking. I'll post my results in a month or so.

And where do I even get a SS rear line? Or have it made? My only hangup is with a SS line if I slam it into something, they dont open back up like a rubber line. With that said, I'm so fed up I'd give it a shot
