Should I just install the jet block gasket as it came out of the package? Or, is there a better way to re-assemble my carb. Looks like my gasket was ok, bike runs fine. I'm replacing it because it's 15 years old. Well, I just wanted to. I've never changed one before. Thanks in advance. JB

Just as it came. It can be a bit tricky to get it on there and the block back on, I used a tiny dab of vaseline to help hold it in place. That's how I ended up doing my KLX300 engine rebuild, just because I wanted to and had never done a 4T lol

Ok, What's a 4T?

It's an engine style when simplicity and lack of parts just won't do. :wah:

I am just kidding. They are quite nice. My push lawn mower has one. I assume a motorcycle with one would be very similar, when anything goes wrong, just go buy a new one.

If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

Oh, I was just kidding.

How painfully close to the truth that cuts

I've never understand why 4T and 2T uses a T? If we say 4 stroke why not 4S?

My original gasket had sealant, I used Permatex High Tack Gasket Sealant.
Some install without anything.
Must be ok either way as I don't hear of failures after installation.

I just rubbed some 2 stroke oil on the gasket & put it right together. All seemed well.

The T is from German: coming from "Takt" meaning stroke, or cycle.

I am not sure where this 'jet block gasket' sits in the carb. Does anyone have a photo?

I just bought the "All Balls" carb rebuild kit for my '97 KDX 220 from MOTOSPORT and I don't think it came with this 'jet block gasket'.

Should I have any other worries with this carb kit? The needle that came with it is silver colored, and not brass looking. Should I keep factory needle? In forum searches I have seen mentioned that the factory needle is no good, but I don't know that the needle in this kit would be any better (or worse).

Google "PWK jet block gasket" and click images. It doesn't come in rebuild kits. Jets R Us has them.

If you use the all balls needle start rich like in clip 4 and lean it from there. Who knows how close their tolerances are and we're talking hundredths or thousanths of an inch making a difference in the way the bike runs. I would rather have a genuine Keihin needle like the CEL which is a known good needle for many KDX'ers. If not the CEL, then I would run the stock one.

Like posted earlier, Get the jet block gasket from "jets r us" You have to use a torx bit to get to it. (Torx security 20)? I think.

Parts on the way! Bought special torx security bits to open it up. Thanks!
