Quick Carb Question...

Post by K50X200 »

Do the E & H models take the same carb?

Yes, they are a newer model on the 1995+, but it is the PWK 35.

I am not sure what the difference is between an old one and a 1995 or so model. Bowl at least?? I know the Boyesen Super Bowl is not for 1995+. OK, I think.

Thankee!

So would you run an RB'd "E" carb on an "H"?

Carb info. Site evidently doesn't support tables so forgive the formatting

The KDX200s have the same PWK35, but are jetted differently/different needles/different slides...all stuff to account for the differences in porting/internal differences in motors. You could run an RB'd "E" carb on an "H", but you'd have to do some jetting work. I believe you can run a super bowl on the newer versions, but IIRC it was basically marketing hype and no real world proven gains.

Quick Carb Question...

Post by cornishwrecker220 »

The slide & needle on the E differ to that on the H ....( leaner cutaway )

I know RB modifies the slide but I can't say for sure if a modified E carb will run on the H or visa versa, but I'd be surprised if it did.

You could certainly run the carb body but with your slide/needle & tweek the jetting etc.... As for the float bowls boyesen etc the design wasn't really a performance gain but it helped with fuel slosh & bogging which is associated with landing from big jumps & whoops etc.

I bet if you called Ron Black or sent him an e-mail, he would have some good info for you. Every time I've sent him an e-mail asking about something, he gets back to me within a day or so.

I did email him last night... I got an auto-reply that said the shop is closed due to health related issues from the wildfires they're having out there, and then they're on vacation until the end of October. I actually knew that because the same message is on their website homepage - but was hoping they'd still answer e-mails...

Quick Carb Question...

Post by K50X200 »

So I did get an email back from Ron Black... His answer follows:

Kip,

We are closed until the end of October.

The carbs mods that we have for the KDX work open both the “E” and “H” models. The jetting on the “E” model is usually a little richer on the main jet, so you might need to go down one size on the main when you put it on your “H” model.

Thank you, Ron Black
