removing the odometer and pickup

Post by kawboy2006 »

I would like to know what someone used as a spacer if they removed the front pickup from the wheel or is it better to just cap the cable hole somehow? i want to remove it as the odometer serves me no purpose and the cable looks like its waiting to catch on something and toss me off.

keep the cap thing on their, I just put some duck tape over it. You may be able to go to a hardware store and find a rubber plug. Should cost you all of $2 tops.

I used a toothpaste cap; inverted it, and threaded it into the hole. It held up fine. Like Ryan said; take the part to a hardware store and see what will fit as a plug. I've also used a wood plug and doused it in liquid electrical tape. That's a product you can brush or dip onto wire to cover exposed conductors. Works great with just about any motorcycle part you are trying to waterproof.

Have you tried a valve stem cap?

Thought I heard that would work before

And why does it serve you no purpose?

Sometimes it's nice knowing how far you've gone and how far you can go...

Guys they make such a plug out of aluminum with an o ring on it that the original screw holds in place. I have one on my bike. If you cant find them, on my 03 kdx, it is the same one as my bros. drz400 takes.
