CNC Maching
Hello KDXers
I'm a long time KDX owner (200 H,KLX forks, fmf exhaust, other goodies) who has access to a CNC mill.
Would there be any interest in some front and rear disc protectors or other machined goodies ?
I'm located in So Cal and am trying to see if there's a demand.
I'm going to be making front and rear guards for mine and a buddys bike soon.
Thanks Tom

Another part might be countershaft sprocket case guards.
Sent you a PM with more info.

Oh, no WP forks! Maybe for the newer KYB's (aka SSS) but not any WP fork.IceCold4x4 wrote:Some cnc triples to make another fork a bolt on affair would be pretty sweet....

Yeah, that's about the only part I can think of that I wouldn't mind having something better. Well, of course, unless you want to make a power valve adjuster/cover combo!pumpguy wrote:Another part might be countershaft sprocket case guards.

An e series clutch basket would be nice. Can't find anything else besides used stock baskets that are pretty worn already...

You're killing me. You paid how much for that bike and you are asking about a set of one off triple clamps??IceCold4x4 wrote:Some cnc triples to make another fork a bolt on affair would be pretty sweet....

Re: CNC Maching
Hey I never said I was intelligent lol. And the bike was bought cheap to get through the wife's not another bike rule... Hell I've spent 3x what I paid for my zrx on farkles and go fast goodies. And it wasn't a cheap bike to begin with.... LolJason wrote:You're killing me. You paid how much for that bike and you are asking about a set of one off triple clamps?? That's what I was gonna say to..... I took my sprocket cover off cuz it kept getting packed full of mud and gunk, but would still like to have some sort of decent case saver and can't find one aftermarket. I've heard some of the KX ones fit but haven't experimented around with it yet. A machined one just for the KDX would be awesome!pumpguy wrote:Another part might be countershaft sprocket case guards.

Re: CNC Maching
I've always wanted to draw up a new case saver and have a few made... never got around to it. If you made a kewl one, I would buy it! Share some details on the guards that you plan to make, I may be interested in those depending on price.

Really no need to design one. A YZ basket can work on an E series. It takes a little more work than fitting one to an H series. And then you can auto clutch it.

I haven't installed mine yet on my 93 KDX 250 so can't say how they will hold up, look very similar to the ProX one Jason listed, just less bits (no cush drive rubbers)

I always looked at disc guards as a $90 part protecting a $65 part.... so I skipped them.
I would love a double cable perch though, so I could have a clutch and cable rest brake on one setup !
you could sell that for every cable clutch bike made !

That idea for a special clutch lever perch that could also hold a hand operated rear brake lever is a great idea IMO. The addition of switches for horn and headlight dip switch has taken up all the real estate on my bars. No room for another lever for rear brake.

It is protecting more than the part. Hard to ride a bike with a bent rotor back to the truck, 20 miles away.ohgood wrote:I always looked at disc guards as a $90 part protecting a $65 part.... so I skipped them.
