2003 KDX 220 question

Post by Molly's 70 »

Installing a new Wiseco top end kit. I understand that no honing is needed? Cylinder looks good. I have searched, but found little. Thanks in advance. JB
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Correct. Do NOT let anyone hone your plated cylinder. If the bike has been previously retrofitted with a steel cylinder that's different. Stock is plated and should NOT be honed. You can clean it up by hand with a Scotch Bright pad if needed.

I just did a top end on my 220. No honing done just a scotch bright pad and some ovencleaner to get the backed carbon off. Also I would get a pack of three and the heaviest scotch pads you can find. It will make the job go quicker.

OK, green Scotch Brite pad and a little oil to get any hazy areas. Clean and rinse thoroughly afterwards.

Good luck with it.
