Kdx 200 light.

Post by jakewesley88 »

I was wondering how i could get a brighter light or maybe switch to led for some more lighting. I do a lot of night riding when i go to wellsville Ohio so brighter lighting would be nice.

Kdx 200 light.

Stock stator only puts out about 35 to 40 watts max. Either rewind your stator for higher output, or buy a higher wattage stator, or just use a full loss battery setup.

Kdx 200 light.

I run a Cree mountain bike LED light ( 7500 lumens) mounted to my cross bar pad...the little rechargeable battery lasts 3 hours & the light has two settings & is extremely bright on Hi beam ... I think the whole set up only cost me £20 from eBay

I'm working on this (in my head) right now. Planning to use a DC rectifier to power a cheapo Amazon 8" led light bar. I don't have a taillight anymore so that draw is gone and the bar I'm looking at has an operating range of 10-30v.

Here are some links that I'm looking at....

rectifier...

light bar...

kind of what I'm thinking...

...my 01' has the two wires he talks about, so a 4-pin setup should work just fine.

I would hook up your LED light bar to the existing headlight wires without the rectifier first. One of my riding buddies runs it that way and it works fine on just the stock regulator. The lights flicker some at idle, but while riding they work fine.

I tried that bar light with rectifier but the recifier blew the first time I hooked it up. I wired it straight and it's good at idle but dims on rev. Im just not an electrician... Looks good though!Image

So, are you saying this light works using the stock AC system?

Typically LEDs work best with DC current, but maybe AC current works too?

You have ZR1 stickers on your forks. Are you in the Tucson area?
