Hi all,
You know how there is an ignition curve where the CDI unit changes the point of ignition? I think as the rpm's increase, the spark advances? What happens if that doesn't occur and stays at a constant point before TDC? I have bought a DIY cdi from an electronic shop because the one my new kdx came with is the wrong one and the new one doesn't have an ignition curve. So will this affect the power?

Re: Ignition curve
Yes def. And depending on the static number you will have different issues to going from. Hard to start, almost no power, or dangerous detonation.

Ignition curve
I'm in Australia and my kdx seems to have a different ignition system to most models. There is a generator behind the flywheel with 18 smaller coils. On the fly wheel there is a raised patch of metal that moves past an ignition coil. On the old cdi there are no wires for the ignition coil wires wile the new one does.

So, MAYBE that would be pretty handy to know when you start asking a majority USA forum questions about your non-USA typical bike. IF ONLY there was a blank box on the registration page that says "COUNTRY" on it.
Thanks.
