1999 kdx 200 top end

Post by Azletx »

Hey guys read a lot of info off of here but never had to post.
Question is on 99 200, tore down after bride laid it over an wouldn't run well after. Trouble at idle and at added fuel. It was time for piston and ring's inspection. Everything looked pretty good for the most part but noticed jug looked different. Not tore up but I thought these were plated. Looks like it's been honed. It has no mm indication on piston head.
I'm curious steps on getting it plated and what mm size or go with on piston.
Any advice helps

First step is to measure the bore, stock is 66.0 mm. Millenium Tech has a good rep as plater, couple other places as well, search for replating to find out. OEM piston should have a letter stamped in the piston crown. DId you figure out why it wasn't running well before disassembling it?

I went through some of the basics, cleaned carb, new plug, drained fuel and fluids and put in fresh. Still not right though.
My piston has a directional arrow and an "A" on the crown.
It was time to check the ware on rings.
* bufftester, it didn't register at first while disassembling
but when I pulled the silencer it felt heavy, I set it on end for a minute and looked later and had a huge oil spot. After reading some other topics looks like new packing could have possibly been the problem
