Kickstand?

The person who owned my bike prior to me was a wanna be racer. All non-essential parts were removed... Forkboots (arg) kickstand (arg) handguards (arg).

I've been on ebay and I bought a kickstand from a 2000 kdx 200. The mounting plate (the piece that actually bolts to the swingarm) is the same part number as the mounting plant for my 1991 kdx 200. The actual stand numbers are different.

Will the newer kickstand work on my older bike?

If it won't... I think i'll just re-ebay the stand

As always thanks for the information guys!

Thats what I did.I bought a 2001 kickstand model for my 89 on ebay...They work fine but the bike is more perpendicular to the ground(I gess the angle is not the same) ...BEWARE of strong winds! lol

They are expensive eh? (ebay)

sometimes they go for 60$!

good luck

No he didn't race it. It did have #69 number plates on it though.

He also removed the tool back from teh back!!!!!!

Thanks for the info quebec. I guess too steep of an angle is better than no stand at all :)

I found the one I bought for $40. USD

I have a 91 kdx200 that I bought missing the kickstand. I know this thread is old and dead but I kept seeing it while searching for a kickstand that would fit since they are discontinued from Kawasaki and none of the aftermarket options are offered for this year (that I could find). I hope this info helps someone else.

I bought the kickstand from the h series 1995-2006 kdx200 and put it on the e series 1989-1994. The stand part numbers are different, but the bracket part numbers are the same.

When I put it on the bike it was straight up and down. I didnt trust it not to fall over, so I ended up cutting out approx 3/4 inch off the bottom of the stand and welding the base back on.

I had to get someone at a local shop to weld it for me since I don't own a welder, but it looks great. A $4 can of spray paint later and it looks like it was ment to be.

The spring is a pain in the butt. I ended up putting pennies in between every spring coil (youtube "kickstand instal") and when that wasnt enough I put in a couple thicker nickels instead of the pennies and pryed it the rest of the way with a flathead screwdriver.

Heres pics of the finished result:

Good luck everyone!

Yes, my dad is running my old H model kickstand on his E as well. Rumors that a RMX250 stand will also work, but they are just as rare as a KDX one lol

I was all over looking to see what other bikes would work. Decided this would be the easier route to go.

Many people complain about swingarm mounted stands but I bought a new spring with the stand so hopefully it wont be an issue.

That's a great alternative to trying to find an E model stand. Just curious - is the spring you used an aftermarket one, or is that OEM? The reason I ask is that my spring is pretty easy to take on and off, but then again, that could be because it has been used for almost 20 y/o now.

It was a brand new oem spring. I actually got frustrated with it the first day after putting pennies in between each coil and still not being able to get it onto both sides, so I left it alone. I came back the next day and it went on without too much trouble... so I am going to guess that the spring loosened up just enough to get it put on by having the pennies in it overnight.

So a 20 year old spring is probably stretched out a decent amount in comparison.

Never had a problem with my KDX swingarm mounted stands. I have run them on MX tracks many times, flat landing from not clearing the big table tops, yet never came down on me running the old OEM spring.

Had nothing but problems with my stock kickstand. Fall on a hill on the left side and it will dig into the ground. Getting the bike back up is nearly impossible alone. I took the darn thing off! There's always a handy tree. If not I'll lay it on the ground!
