Hi guys..

some advice please.

Just took the clutch casing of my 99 KDX220 to replace the clutch, whilst doing this i noticed some up and down play in the gearbox shaft, from the bearing that is help in place by two 8mm bolts...is this acceptable or do i need to replace the bearing, and if so any one done it before for some hints and tips..

Cheers.

I can't speak about the amount of play but you're not going to be able to replace that bearing with the shaft still coming through it. I would be really surprised if someone says they removed the retainers, heated the case, and the bearing fell out when they leaned the bike over. Wouldn't that be nice though? Every bearing I've ever pulled that's as big as that one needs a bearing puller, or heat and a hammer hit onto a socket from the back side.

Hi John,

It was a quite clear after I split the cases...heat and a hammer and a socket, job done.
