I'm working on a top end rebuild for my 2001 KDX200.
The bore diameter is within spec.
My concern is whether the rings will seat okay since the inside of the bore is so smooth.
A guy at a local machine shop suggested I not use my synthetic blend oil (Golden Spectro) during the break in.
He recommends a regular 2 stroke oil instead, He believes synthetic lubricates a little too well and that may keep
the rings from seating correctly.
What do you guys think?
top end rebuild - bore within spec but very smooth

If its in spec and the coating isn't damaged in any way (i.e.: scratched, gouged, flaking) you should be fine.

Look around the internet. The"not using" synthetic during break in sounds old school
