I guess the question is, what do you want to gain? Better is subjective.

It will help the top end and over rev which the 220 with the 33mm carb have none of. Best bet is to send the carb to RB to get bored and everything.

The 220 is going to drop off on the top end more than the 200, but if your response is slow and sluggish run through the jetting guide. After making sure everything is mechanically sound. My 220 has no work done to it and pulls hard from bottom to top. THe RB carb work is also a good choice and will help the 220 breathe a little easier.

The 35mm carb off the 200 kdx will work on the 220..... You will need to use the 220s needle & slide in the 35mm carb & jet to suit ( 40 pilot & 152 main to start ) ...

The 220 will always fall flat towards the higher rev range compared to the 200 due to its porting , however you can retard the timing slightly which in turn will help the motor to rev out a little more.

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Is there a down side to this? I assume that it's gonna lose a little on the bottom end?

So if I'm looking at the 3 timing marks, retarding it would be turning it counter-clockwise, correct?
