wider foot pegs

Post by bws2 »

I'm considering getting a pair of wider foot pegs, for my 2001 KDX200.

I was thinking they'd make the bike more comfortable to ride, since I do most of my riding standing up.

Have any of you guys tried this? If so, are there any particular foot pegs you'd suggest?

Thank you.

I'm kind of interested to see if anything wider will work on there too. I've seen the things that attach to the footpeg and make them wider, but it would be cool to know if nice aftermarket ones from another bike will fit.

I put the IMS super stock pegs on my 2000 KDX220R. They are 50% wider than stock and are made from high quality stainless steel. The super stock are the same as the pro series except the teeth are more stock style instead of the razor sharp spikes that destroy the soles of your boots.

Those pivot pegs scare me haha I don't know how that would feel riding. Anyone have any experience to share on em?

I have a 2004 KDX 220. I wear size 13 Gaerne boots because of their greater width than most brands. The stock pegs felt like I was standing on pencils. I put on a set of oversize pegs and have loved them. I bought them from a seller here on KDXrider.net and can't remember the brand as I write this. I don't think that's really important to answer bws2's question. My experience is bigger pegs = more comfortable riding when standing and no problems shifting and braking despite huge feet. Try 'em - I think you'll like them.

Thank you, Java. I think I'm going to look for a set of those.

Looks good. Looks like less mud will build up than stock. Are they not as tall as the stock ones? That would be a plus for a tall rider.
How much do they cost?

Thanks, yes should be less mud build up. I would say about the same as stock for the height. $71.66 amazon prime :supz:

Since this thread was revived, and the question was raised about the pivot pegs, here are my experiences...

In our line of riding, I can’t recommend them. Way too much searching for the rear brake, mainly in the choppy stuff. So, depending on where your weight is shifted determines where the brake lever is. Not a stellar quality...especially when you really need it. Sometimes it’s too much, sometimes not enough. The feel is gone.

They are not for me, and I’ve really tried. Especially after dishing out the cash for them.

Just my opinion...

I've got the IMS Pro series pegs as well. Great grip and much tougher than their Super Stock pegs are and way better than aluminum or (sorry Mach2nh) any welded up stock peg for gnarly off road abuse.
