well i got a question for you all. The guys at the shop said that you cant bore out a crome sleeve. I said i know the 94 kdx does not have a chrome sleeve. Then they said well then you can bore it. I was wondering what kind of sleeve this bike has. Can it be bored? Or would it be worth it to by a new LA sleeve for $90 and then have them put the sleeve in.

ok, I'll bite. What the hell is a "chrome sleeve"? Once again, either you need to find a shop where the mechanics aren't total morons, or you need to listen to what they are really saying a little closer. If these are the same guys that said KDXs are "jetted lean from the factory" , just stop talking to them.

A stock cylinder is aluminum with a very thin plating on it. if you have to bore this cylinder, you will remove the plating, and it has to be replated. otherwise it will have the life expectancy of a '73 Chevy Vega. Some cylinders are "sleeved" by an aftermarket outfit. That means they bore it out a lot bigger, then press an iron sleeve into it. I haven't heard of anyone plating these. BTW, if your manual is like mine, it explains the whole plating thing.

* edited to sound slightly less jackassical.
