Newbie looking at a '96

I'm going to look at a '96 KDX 200, and I recall reading there was a significant design upgrade somewhere around this time, or maybe it was earlier or later, so I guess I'm looking for advice like "look at the '97s or later...", or "You're good, the upgrades were in '94....", something like that.

Thanks!

The last version of the KDX200 was 1995 - 2006.

The KDX220R was 1997 - 2005 in the USA. It is about the same.

I have a 1996 and I love it. A few cheap upgrades will make it a woods weapon. A torque spacer with reeds and pipe also The RB carb mod is awesome. The front suspension is out of date but there are mods for that. The H series "1995 and up I believe" is a great bike in my opinion.

Thanks! Guy is asking $750, says it has a new top end and is in "excellent" condition, but I won't hold my breath at that price until I see it. If it runs well, I figure a few hundred for linkage bearings, maybe clutch, probably a new rear tire, maybe sprockets, and it might be a good deal.

I agree with your probable needs. Might also need wheel and steering head bearings and also brake pads.

Keep us posted on how it works out.

Good luck.

For a non-clapped out KDX, that is a steal.

The '96 is the unique-among-KDX's Barney purple colored model.

96 is the most purple, with some purple on others around that time frame. Early to mid 90's was the time for purple in various gear and manufacturer's models.
