'01 KDX200 Exhaust Upgrade Questions

I'm hoping to get an extremely low hour 01 KDX200 in the next few days. I've already decided that I will do the KLX fork swap and exhaust/airbox/jetting mods. Since I'm still in high school, I don't have money to blow like that, so I plan on doing these upgrades gradually. Ive heard that the stock exhaust is extremely restrictive and that the stock pipe is double walled with fiberglass in-between, and that the silencer isn't actually all that restrictive. I tend to like the pro circuit 304 sound over FMF, so I plan to get that direction. Since the stock silencer is not too restrictive, does it make sense to get a new silencer in the first place? should I just save my money for a gnarly pipe? Thanks.

Get a pipe first and then get a silencer if you want.
The pipe will make a big improvement in top end, the silencer, not so much.

Idk, in stock form it's plenty capable so maybe get the jetting dialed and ride it for a few months then decide. Give you time to save and make an informed decision.

I bought my son a bone stock 2005 and raced it in a CO National enduro to a 3rd place finish. Granted I dropped to the C class, but my point is that there is nothing overly wrong with a stock KDX so don't feel like you need to rush the mods.

I think you should get a good pipe. The front forks work just fine with the right weight oil and the right springs for your weight. Now the rear shock is another matter of opinion.

Speaking of rear shocks, is there an easy way to tell what spring is installed? The books list 4.8, 5.2, and 5.4 kg/mm springs.

Interestingly enough, the owners manual lists different front springs for the 200 as opposed to the 220. Manual shows rear springs same for both.

For the 200, front springs listed are 0.34, 0.36, and 0.37 kg/mm.

For the 220, front springs listed are 0.32, 0.34, and 0.35 kg/mm.

Is there an easy way to tell what front springs are installed?

I think there's a way to measure what rating the springs have. The ratings have to do with how much weight it takes to compress them a certain amount. I think metric is used so it would be kilograms per centimeter most probably. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm trying to get mine to quiet down a bit because i drive it on the street mostly and dont want to be the jerk neighbor in the mornings. I've got the FMF silencer. If you want to trade I'd pay all the shipping costs¿
