Checking Gear oil

Post by Scrandy »

Hey to check the level of oil in the little window on the side of the engine does the bike need to be on the kick stand or standing straight up? Thanks.

Checking Gear oil

Post by pumpguy »

The owners manual for the H series 200 and 220 on page 21 states:

To check the oil level, start the engine and run it for about 3 minutes at idle speed. Then stop the engine and wait several minutes for the oil to settle.

If If the motorcycle has just been used, wait several minutes for all the oil to settle.

Situate the motorcycle so that it is perpendicular to the ground.

Check the transmission oil level through the oil level gauge in the lower right side of the engine. The oil level should come up between the upper and lower level.

Use a full quart of oil in the tranny. The manual calls for just a hair under a quart but using a full quart is fine.
