Cylinder recoating

Post by doakley »

Well, the old '99 KDX 220 was just getting harder and harder to crank when cold, the piston slap had reached distracting levels so I figured it was time to go back inside and take a good look at the top end. Sure enough the bore measured right at the max wear limit. No use in just throwing rings at it so tomorrow my cylinder goes off to Millennium for reworking back to factory new specs. I'll let you guys know how that goes.

I am sure the end result at any quality shop is the same, but I sent my cylinder to millennium for a replate and they did an awesome job. It looked so good you could have put a chain around it and wore it as a necklace!

I won't say power gains as its really just a return of power, but it was eye opening. Felt brand new and ripped!

They did good work on both E series cylinders I sent to them.
I wonder if "any quality shop" will put a lifetime warranty on their nicasil?
