i was wondering if there is a shorter clutch lever. I was thinking of getting some bark busters and my stepdad's friend had to cut his clutch lever. I think I would actually like a clutch lever the size of my brake lever, could i get a lever for a kx 80 or something, would it work
Thanks

I've had a few clutch levers with the ball cut..err..broken off and filed smooth. Shortened levers are really nice when it comes to clearance inside the handguards. I actually prefer shorty levers (at least on the KDX with its light clutch pull), since I tend to only use my middle and ring fingers on the clutch.

However, there is one small caveat: if you plan to participate in any AMA racing, the ball must be intact...it's in the rules. It's hard to say how nitpicky any officials would actually be about that. But consider yourselves warned.

why must the ball be intact, is there any advantage to not having it, quarter of an ounce lighter, oooooohhhhh

Just a guess, but I'm thinking it is a safety issue, especially in motocross where there are no handguards. In the event of a pile up, it would be a lot harder to get stabbed by a lever with that big ball at the end than it would by one...well, without the ball.

Moose racing sells a shorty clutch lever part #M559-20-7 One inch shorter than stock KDX 1/4" shorter than KX 85-100. For $12.95 Canadan. Also need to use there clutch perch part # M555-20 $14.95 Canadan. Will not fit on the stock KDX clutch perch. Works well with cut down bars and hand guards. Should be cheaper in the USA.
