2005 KDX 200 Pouring Gas out Overflow

Postby sammydogjj » 05:07 pm Jun 08 2016

My carb has been pouring gasoline out the overflow on my carbs. It does it on two of the overflow tubes. It used to do this when I first got it, it stopped a while and more recently started occurring again. I took the bowl off, cleaned it thoroughly and put on some new tubing. It still pours the gas out. I ordered a full rebuild kit, is there anything else I should do? Thanks!

Replace float needle and seat, and set float level.

How do I set the float level? Also should I buy new floats?

Floats are likely fine, but you can check that pretty easily. 99% it's your float height and you can likely clean the needle and seat. That said it's pretty easy and logical to just replace.

Here is the manual way...

Thanks! I'll definitely adjust it while it's off. Do you think I should just go ahead and rebuild the carb while it's off? I have a stock jet kit with a new needle, seat, o rings, whole shabang. Might as well right?

Alright, I have a full rebuild kit including jets. Should I just go ahead and install them? Stock sizing.

Since you already have the the parts, yes. Better in my he bike than in the box.

If your jetting is already good, I wouldn't mess with that..... remember "stock jetting" is all relative, and changes based on your altitude, temperature, etc. I ordered a rebuild kit for mine and it came with stock jetting (or at least was supposed to be), which changed my pilot jet from the 48 it had in it, to a 52. it fouled a plug after a couple rides (it had NEVER once fouled a plug before). I put the 48 back in and haven't fouled a plug since. I'd def look at what you have in there first before changing any of the jets

If they're both stock sizes will it matter, they will be the same thing right? Provided that I make sure they are the same sizes, if they are may as well go ahead and replace?
It says in the product description "OEM jet sizes included" and my entire bike is stock. Go ahead and install?

There are numbers on the jets so you can check if they are stock size. Jets rarely wear out, so there shouldn't be an issue using the old ones after you have cleaned them.
