I've got an '01 Kdx200 and have read that the drain plug washer/gasket should be
replaced when changing the transmission oil.

Is this something that you guys do? If so is there an aftermarket option or is OEM the way to go?

Thanks

I think it would be OK to use aftermarket, but have no clue where one could find an exact match. I imagine that by the time one spends time and money trying to find an aftermarket one, it may have been easier and maybe even cheaper in total cost (time, hassle and money) to get an OEM one.

I bought a box of aluminum crush washers at Cycle Gear in a pinch and have been using them on all my bikes with no issue. You might even be able something at an auto parts store. No magic to them but size and material (copper or aluminum)

I've never replaced mine and it doesn't leak. Don't overtighten either. If I have trouble with a drain plug leaking or feel the threads are getting worn I'll wrap it in thread tape.

John Deere M 806438 are 12mm rubber sealing washers which work great.

They only require a light tightening due to the rubber seal.

Far cheaper " a few bucks " locally , than some of the ridiculous prices on line.

Otherwise : plenty of " aluminum " 12mm sealing washers can be found on line.

Brake line copper washers work also. I rarely replace my gaskets and don't have issues. Use a bit of grey or black rtv if you don't have washer.

Don't just go to the hardware store and try any old rubber washer that looks like it might fit.

Rubber compound needs to be Buna, Viton, or something that is compatible with petroleum products.

Neoprene is most common hardware store available rubber material, and it is NOT compatible with petroleum products.

Never would have thought of that one.

I actually stand corrected ,,, the drain plug is 10mm , not the 12 as stated.

Surprised you guys didn't correct me :)
