is bike to small??

Post by mlchiro »

I am looking at getting a KDX 220/200, but worried I may not fit. I am 6'2" 180# with a long torso. Will use bike mainly for open FS roads, OHV parts, open trails, and if I get good enough, maybe a novice race or 2. I am coming off a DRZ400E about 5 yrs ago. Thx... Mark

G'day mate I'm 6ft & 225 and I find it good but could beef the suspension up a bit.

6'3 225. Stiffer springs and its golden. Any bike you buy you're going to need springs. But if your going to be riding mostly open stuff a kx will shine more than the beautiful beautiful grunt of the bottom end on the kdx.

Agreed! 6'3" and 210 lbs and works just fine for me.

6'2" 200lbs

Bar risers give me a bit more room on the seat and make it easier to stand.

I recently put a disc with 43mm forks on my '83 and add 1 1/2 turns more rear preload to balance the rear to a slightly firmer front. Did 120 km vinduro on the weekend with the bike being nicer to ride for the upgrade.

yes it will fit. it's different than a drz (about 80 lbs lighter!) and feels like a rocket in the woods. the drz will feel more comfy at first, until you realize how AWESOME the kdx turns in tight woods, and weighs so much less.

I'm 6'3' 220lbs and have been abusing the stock suspension for a couple of years now. it's a fantastic woods bike, i just needed risers and some better pegs.

whole bunch of fun on this little screamer :)

From an ergos standpoint all bikes will be small for you, but these can be corrected.

From an engine standpoint, I haven't met a rider yet on the trail or track that can out ride their machine!

The 200/220 is a great bike.

Fix the ergos, get the correct springs and let er rip!

6'1" 210lbs and love my KDX 220. I installed KLX 300 USD forks, rebuilt with Racetech springs, gold valves, etc. to match my weight and riding style; rebuilt the rear shock with new, properly rated spring. Bike runs and handles awesome. You won't be disappointed. Bar risers and wider pegs can enhance the comfort...

6'5", 190lbs... Risers and tell bars on it and it's fine (same on all my bikes).
