Kdx 175 leaking fuel out of the over flow
Hey everyone, I'm new to this site and I need help badly. I just got this 82 kdx 175 (a3)for some bombing around but every time I leave the fuel petcock on I Leak gas out of the overflow. And it also feels like it is lacking power. I've taken the carb apart multiple times in attempts to fix this problem but can't seem to get the problem licked. Does anyone know what the float level is supposed to be set at? Also I am having a time and a half trying to find a service manual. Thanks

I'm not sure on the float level but have you checked the needle valve for wear?

Ya I've taken a look at it all And it all looks pretty good. It seems to be leaking out of the overflow tube on the bottom of the carb. So I think setting the float to a proper level is a good place to start but I can't find any technical info on this carb.

If I recall correctly, generally you want the fuel needle to seat when the lateral line of the float or bottom of float is parallel with the upper carb base. The measurement often used is the distance between these lateral lines.
However, here is an easy way to set the float height without the need to know the specific height or the need to measure.
I've used this method for years on many different bikes and it hasn't failed me yet!

I will give that a try. The only thing that is different is that my floaters are not attached to the carb I have just a metal plate. Do I set that to be parrallel with the body?

This is the parts diagram for my carb in case I'm not being specific enough

That's hard to say. I don't have direct experience with that type of carb, but perhaps see at what level the plate is when the air flow stops and lower it from there just a bit.

So you're looking for a free copy of a published manual. You won't find that here.
