How much should I tighten clutch bolts?

Post by mwoj »

I took my clutch apart because the plates were stuck together from sitting. I went to put it back together and don't know how much to tighten the clutch bolts. The only ones im concerned with are the bolts with the springs under them, and the center bolt that holds everything together. Is there a spec?

Just thinking here . I know the clutch spring bolts do not require a ton on the torque spec. But wont the square plate be to tight up to the other surface and not allow it to release correctly. I had the trouble in the past . I am new here aswell and I have I see with my bike but I am going to make a new feed.

I actually just tightened them down almost all the way, put the cover on, actuated the lever, and saw if it was to loose or to tight. Then adjusted them from there.

Ok that is what I thought too as I don't believe you can tighten them all the way down and still have some play.

I am not sure I am following what you guys are saying but the posts of the pressure plate need to make contact with the back of the clutch pusher holder.

Once the two touch, it doesnt take much torque on the bolts.

The older air cooled kdx's have a a slightly different clutch system than the new ones. Idrk exactly how much I tightened each one, just most of the way down. Mine works so you may just have to mess around with it unless someone knows how to actually do it.

I just ran the bolts all the way down and torqued to spec and seems to be fine. I thought for some reason that it should not be that way

So the top plate, right under the bolt heads, went all the way down? Does your clutch work?
