Mixture oil for 1986 KDX200

Post by hondaxr200r »

I have an 86' KDX200(stock)! Always used Golden Spectro oil for mix but can't afford anymore at 8-9$ for a 12oz bottle! Is there a cheaper but good quality oil that can be used like Pennzoil or Walmart(pardon me) brand? My riding is light duty trail riding(no racing) or throttle blasts! What ya's using?

I've run cheap stuff when in a pinch but never long term. I run Maxima 927. It's about $30 a gallon.

Lucas semi-synthetic is about ~$8-10 for 32 oz and, in my experience always runs really clean.

I typically use Motul 800 because I have a source that can get it for me at the wholesale level.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Lucas is probably one of the better-quality inexpensive oils and I've found it burns really clean. It's also readily available at chain auto parts stores (I think I bought it at O'Reilly.) With a semi-synthetic I wouldn't use any less oil than 32:1; I use 26:1.

Best? Ask ten different people and you'll get ten different answers. What I've found works well: Motorex, Motul 710, Motul 800 and Maxima K2. I've read Torco GP-7 is pretty good, but I haven't tried it. (It seems kinda hard to find.)

After a little research I found the Maxima and Lucas very good compared to the ELITES sold at the motorcycle shops(GOUGE DEALERS)! O'Reilly's sell just as good oil as any cycle dealers! Thank You!
