As you know my kdx was completely stripped.

You will see a good method to install the parts well-ordered.My project is almost done.I have to bolt the front end and the project will be over.
Thanks to everyone for your help during the process.

phil.

Phil - In the pics what is the tube that comes off the bottom of your flywheel cover and goes over the engine and then under the bike by the clutch cover? My 89 doesn't have anything like that so I'm curious what it is.

CURIOUS!

When I got the bike,2 stroke oil was in the flywheelcover. The three recessed areas under the stator was the problem. I did the secret JBWELD trick to seal these 3 slots.

But,Just before repair this problem I installed a drain/breather tube because of the pressure build-up in the magnetto cover.

The tube is still there like you see. Mabe one day I will remove it.

I checked the recessed area under the flywheel when I installed my 75w lighting coil. Bone dry, i'll have to go take a look again and make sure they are still that way.

Nice frame guards.

Now I know why you wanted them. I didn't know you were repainting the entire frame. good looking job.

are the pre '95 kdx frames thicker tubed than the post? don't know if it's the fresh paint (could have everal mils i suppose) or just the pic, but your frame seems pretty "stout" as compared to mine.

Most likely as the pre 95 KDX's are not a perimeter framed bike like the 95+ KDX's.

Nice job!

What kind of paint did you use for the frame?

Hey tedd :prayer: ...lol! (he sold me his frame guards) :supz: I like them so much!

Ok. The frame was sanded by hand. After a coat of primer,I painted the frame with PJ1 lime green year(88-03).Then, 2 coats of automotive 2 part clear with hardener (spray gun). Seems to hold well but less strong as the original kawi powder coated paint process.

Heres the job I did.

New front/rear brakes pads
New fork oil with new .40k springs
Greased sterring stem bearings
Made 1 inches bars risers
throttle handle and cable lubrification
clean carb
Painted swing arm and frame
New swing arm bearing and sleeve/linkgage greased and shock bearing replaced
Strip down the top end for inspection and kips maintenance, new rings, gasket.
New left power valve
New cable clucth and lever assy
New srockets
New grips
New silencer packing
Removed dents on fmf pipe
New frame guards and front disc guard.

I need a new chain,front tire and a kickstarter.
I will install the front end this week.
