I need to get stronger springs on my new to me kdx220r.

What bike would provide a rear spring around the 6.0kg/mm rate that would swap in to my KDX that I can score at the bike junk yard or eBay?

Does anyone know if a KLX300 spring will work? It is apparently 5.8.

Are you sure you need a 6.0?

I've got a spring that's too strong for my weight (165#) but don't know the exact spring rate. Do you know the rate on your currect spring and what's your weight?

According to racetech.com spring rate calculator for my weight, I need a 4.6kg/mm spring. Stock on the 220R is 5kg/mm/

You can try & turn down the spring adjuster nut 2 or 3 turns to stiffen the spring & turn the rebound in on the bottom of the shock 1 or 2 clicks & go from there....I'm around 98kg & it works for me

My bike still has around 1.5/. 2" inch free sag from off the stand even with me sat on the bike it only goes down another inch ...I only trail ride & it works fine .
The kdx spring is ok for light to medium weight riders but a few extra turns I the spring doesn't really hurt for non competition work.
You can try it for yourself , if you're not happy then it's simple to put back.
The key is to remember is to go 1 click or 2 clicks in on the rebound to slow the kick back from the extra spring force.
