96 kdx premix instead of oil pump

I have a 1996 Kawasaki kdx 200 I was wondering if I can just pre mix instead of using the oil pump or if that would hurt something in the motor. Any suggestions will be helpful.

I never knew kdx's had pumps??? If yours does, it should be fine to block it off and use pre mix. Where are you from?

My old SR had a pump. Just make up a plate to go over the pump hole and itilise the 2 screws that mounted it. You will also need to block the tube on the reed cover.

any chance you can post a few close up pictures of the oil pump ?
ive never seen an SR model up close, and all of my KDXs just run premix

That's not an SR. That's an H-Series.

There is no oil pump. Premix only.

Are you by chance putting oil in the coolant overflow tank? It does look like a Yamaha oil injection tank.

Sarrent is correct. You have a periphial framed bike. The SR was based on the earlier models. I suspect you are indeed speaking of the coolant reservoir.

Please tell us that you did not run the engine on straight gasoline.

That little tank is for the coolant reservoir.

Or in this case it could be a water pump seal lubricator.

like pointed out by now, what you are looking at in in fact the radiator overflow reservoir

if your mechanically inclined, just pull that shroud of and have a good look at it
the way the lines hook up to the radiator are a dead give away....as is the writing on the cap

still, points for asking what is what before assuming and wrecking a good bike
