KX125 (or KX250?) CDI on a KDX?

I was reading an old post on ThumperTalk today and the person writing it mentioned installing a KX125 CDI on a KDX to add top end power. It makes sense, I guess, but up to this point I hadn't heard of anyone doing this. I know the later model (say late 90s/early 2000s) KXs had a different plug, so it definitely wouldn't be "plug and play." Do any of the earlier KXs have a CDI that's an easy fit with the KDX wiring harness? Has anyone ever used a KX CDI on their KDX? I sure wouldn't mind adding some top end to my 220... :supz:

That is for late 80's KDX's, I'm sure with some know how and hard work.. Maybe it could work.

-I'm was referring to putting a **KX** CDI on a KDX.
-The description says that's for a 1983-85 KDX220. (Such a bike doesn't exist.)
-Definitely not interested in spending $399.99 plus $6.00 shipping for any CDI.

I don't know that you could? I got a KX125 CDI with my hybrid build. It had about 3 times the pins and what they did or went to I didn't look into.

From a practical application it can only change the advance/retard to suit It's model port timing which we don't have. Ours may be more basic. As far as I know we have two base settings. One for pre power valve opening below 6k then more advanced for above 6k. I don't know when a 125's power valves are set to open. I would presume a 125 will rev higher as it has a smaller piston so it's more suited to that. Ours is a 200 so the port timing and pipe aren't set for that.

If you want to play Kawasaki were good enough to put slots on our stator plates which lets you manually retard or advance it to suit your needs. I personally always run as good a pump fuel as is readily available Ron 98 and use max advance.
