porting 200/220?

Post by fulltiltboogie »

What is the case porting differences between 200 and a 220? What all would be involved to say put a 220 cylinder on a 200?

Case porting?

The differences are in the cylinder porting. I understand the case porting to be the same.

So..what is involved in putting a 220 cylinder on a 200 would be to do just that. Put a 220 cylinder on your 200 (with piston and head of course) and 'thar 'ya go.

I think for the hassle of doing that i'd much rather get a 200 cylinder and have Eric Gorr bore and port it into a 225. 220 torque with 200 snap...yummy! :supz:

Fulltiltboogie, you must have seen that 220 cylinder up for sale? With a sleeve in it?
Makes me wonder.

re: 225 big bore

I would have chosen that path but for the Miles Per Tank hit. Heck...if I want to not be able to ride a lot of places I regularly do (can't GET there from here..not enough fuel!), I'll buy a new punkin!!

I didn't pinkie swear on it!

I DID say it is what I understood to be the case.

Never believe anything I say unless it matches with your own beliefs known and proven to be true OR is something you have vetted to your satisfaction through some other source(s).

You know... I was under the impression that the KIPS actuating rod angle was slightly different between the 200 and 220.

The governer shaft and main shafts are the same PN between the 200/220.

Maybe that was someone trying to deter me from trying it. :hmm:

Don't rightly know but worth checking before proceeding. I know if you get the head decked, you may have a problem with the head motormounts lining up and if you get your cylinder bottom decked, the KIPS won't line up correctly.

I think you would be better off with the 225 Gorr offers. That's next for me I think...

I think the 200 is indeed the same as the 200.

I'm quite sure of that, actually!
