Choke won't stay on

Post by Tioli »

Silly question but my choke will drop down on its own after a few revs. It's brass and obviously worn.
Before I pull it apart to see if I can some how figure a way out to reinvigorate it and possibly breake the plastic.
Has any one already don't this or can say you can't because.....

I think you have to replace the choke mechanism. It just unscrews, so it's easy enough to do.

Well now you have done it, now I have to pull it apart to see why that works

Good to see a practical solution for all to share.

Yep, worked for me. This has been suggested on this site previously, and is where I learned of this solution.

Not much to why it works. The zip tie squeezes the boot against the shaft with enough pressure to keep it in place until you push it back down.

Yeah there is just a plastic clicky/snap mechanism under that boot that gets worn down over time.

You can also buy a new valve for about $30 if that is your preference.
