Fork oil

Post by Jd4u2me »

So I just replaced my front fork seals on my 91 kdx200. And now I need to put oil in them.
My question is how much? I don't understand the repair manual. It says oil level 140 and then some weird plus with a line under it symbol and then 2mm. I just want to know the standard amount?

I've already reassembled them, can't I just put the right amount of oil in, with out taking the springs out and pushing the forks down?

That's exactly it. 140mm +/- 2mm from the top of the fork tube.

No, you can't just "put the right amount of oil in." You need to pull the springs, compress them, and add oil to 138-142mm.

The plus with line under it is plus or minus (give or take)
Meaning 138 - 142 mm from the top of the tube when fully compressed with the spring removed
